It was announced yesterday that former Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio is set to join recently relegated Swindon Town as manager. Di Canio has the relevant coaching badges and was thought to be in line for the vacant role at West Ham but instead decided to cut his teeth in League 2.
Di Canio joins the ever growing list of Italian managers who have plyed their trade or currently still managing teams in the English leagues:
England - Fabio Capello
Chelsea - Carlo Ancelotti
Chelsea - Claudio Ranieri
Chelsea - Gianluca VialliMan City - Roberto Mancini
Swindon Town - Paolo Di Canio
West Brom - Roberto Di Matteo
West Ham - Gianfranco Zola
QPR - Luigi De Canio (a manager who will probably only be remembered by QPR fans!)
Crystal Palace - Attilio Lombardo
