Following my blog on the most yellow cards issued in the English Premier League I thought I would compile a list of the ten players who have received the most red cards in the EPL.
1/. Richard Dunne - 8
2/. Duncan Ferguson - 8
3/. Patrick Viera - 8
4/. Vinnie Jones - 7
5/. Roy Keane - 7
6/. Alan Smith - 7
7/. Luis Boa-Morte - 6
8/. Nicky Butt - 6
9/. Andrew Cole - 6
10/. John Hartson - 6
No real surprises there although I was expecting to see players who have had long careers in the Premiership higher in the table such as Tony Adams, Sol Campbell and master of the mis-timed tackle Paul Scholes, each who have 4 cards to their name.
Unsurprisingly Vinnie Jones managed to get sent off 6 times over 3 seasons in a total of 97 games whilst Eric Cantona was shown red 4 times in 2 seasons within a total of 55 games! No player has been sent off more than 3 times in any one season. Franck Quedrue, Craig Short, David Batty, Slaven Bilic and Vinnie Jones are all guilty of getting sent off 3 times in any one season!
